My Commercial Shoot!

Updated: Dec 17, 2025

I had so much fun working on a commercial on Wednesday!

I had to drive over an hour to Squamish, where we filmed beside some scenic rocks. I played a mom of two teens alongside my onscreen hubby.

The Joy of Filming

There’s this instant feeling on set—like we're at camp. You bond quickly with your castmates. The next day, even after only 12 hours together, you find yourself missing them.

I think it's more about missing the excitement of it all. As actors, we do a lot of auditioning. Actual bookings can be few and far between. So when we do land a role, it feels like winning the lottery—which it kind of is, considering we’re competing with hundreds of others.

The Numbers Behind the Scenes

In the last year alone, I’ve had 143 auditions, 6 bookings, 4 callbacks, and 1 hold. That’s actually considered a lot of bookings! But as you can see, there’s a ton of effort behind every job we land. Like they say, you can’t win the lottery if you don’t buy a ticket.

The Connection to Fitness

It reminds me of exercise. Most of us work out regularly—maybe three times a week (about the same number of auditions I average). But we only really use our physical fitness at specific times, like a big hike or something.

Still, without all that behind-the-scenes effort, you wouldn’t be able to do that big hike. Over time, if you stop moving your body, coupled with aging, you might find that you can’t do the things you used to love. Or maybe you get so out of shape that you become self-conscious about wearing a bathing suit and avoid going to the beach altogether.

The Importance of Consistency

So—just like auditioning—keep at it. Keep exercising so you can keep doing the things you love!

Embracing the Journey

Every audition is a step on your journey. It’s not just about landing the role; it’s about the experience. Each audition teaches you something new. You grow as an actor and as a person.

Finding Your Passion

When you pursue your passion, you open doors. You meet new people and create lasting memories. The thrill of being on set is unmatched. It’s a unique experience that fuels your creativity.

The Community of Actors

The bond you form with fellow actors is special. You share stories, laughter, and sometimes tears. This community supports one another through the highs and lows of the industry.

Staying Motivated

To stay motivated, set small goals. Celebrate each audition, each callback. These milestones keep you focused. They remind you that every effort counts.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the journey of acting is much like maintaining fitness. Both require dedication and perseverance. Embrace the process, and remember to enjoy every moment.

Keep pushing forward, and you’ll find success in ways you never imagined.

And remember, “you can’t win the lottery if you don’t buy a ticket.”

Keep auditioning, keep exercising, and keep living your passion!

This was such an informative read! I completely agree that the way a workplace or commercial property is decorated makes a huge difference in creating the right atmosphere for both clients and employees. The choice of colors, finishes, and overall design can really boost productivity and leave a lasting impression. For businesses looking to upgrade their office or retail spaces, working with experts is the best approach. I’d highly recommend bulgerwicks.com, as they have the right skills, experience, and attention to detail to deliver outstanding results.
